About Us

The Hudson Valley Riverbank Historic Sites and Museum (HRVHSM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history, architecture, and cultural heritage of the Hudson Valley. Established in 2013, our museum is located on a 15-acre historic estate overlooking the Hudson River—listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places as the Adams-Chadeayne-Taft Estate. This significant property reflects multiple eras of design and craftsmanship, and bears witness to the region’s industrial past through its former pottery works, as well as connections to the Underground Railroad and women’s suffrage movements.

Since 1971, our founder, Susan Eichelberg-Elam, has restored and reassembled this remarkable site, including the ca. 1800 Clark-King House, which blends Federal-style interiors with transitional Greek Revival-Italianate characteristics. Today, HRVHSM offers educational programs, guided tours, and historical research opportunities, inviting visitors, scholars, and the local community to engage with the stories, architecture, and landscapes that shaped life in the Hudson Valley. We remain committed to sharing these treasures with future generations, ensuring that the region’s rich legacy endures.
